[Review] L'OCCITANE Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc

Bath ourselves in the glory of the morning sun, pamper our sense of smell with flowers upon flowers and fall into the dream world of fields filled with beautiful flowers carefully nurtured and planted over the famous perfumed land, Grasse and mediterranean, this is exactly how we felt and transported into when we first put on this latest offering called Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc from L'OCCITANE, a brand that is synonymous with natural beauty that is all things French.

Grasse was once overflowed with fields of fragrant flowers that accompanied the delicate movements of the pickers in the language of the mistral wind. It is indeed amazing that how L'OCCITANE as a brand established as far back as in the 1970s have upheld the tradition and continues to bring the best of flowers and their scents infused into bottles that we can now totally enjoy, just with a few spritzes. "35 years later, we are defining the first accords of La Colletion de Grasse. A collection that pays homage to the know-how of the land of Grasse", announced Olivier Baussan, the founder of L'OCCITANE.

Well, thanks to the passionate producers of The Damianos who are still patient enough to grow and pick orange blossoms (it is a long painstaking and laborious task undertaken while keeping one's balance on a ladder) and their partnership with L'OCCITANE, only then we have the luxury of experiencing a floral perfume like Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc. Anne Dor, the vineyard owner, gave new meaning to this heritage by reinitiating the cultivation of iris on the property. L'OCCITANE called on her to enhance its production of Iris Pallid with a sustainable farming approach at Val d'Iris in Grasse.

The Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc Eau De Toilette (75ml) came to us recently in the most simple yet exquisite package, in line with its floral ingredients, the white and violet box opened to reveal a golden outer casing and upon further exploration, the actual box in lilac was presented.

The bottle is created with a mirror effect in mind, by Olivier Baussan, by drawing the reflection of an iris bouquet traced in hot-stamped gold passes through the two thicknesses of glass tinted by the blue shade of the precious liquid within. Nothing fancy, relatively heavy rectangular glass bottle, very simple classic yet oozes a little chic. You know how they say, trust the French women to look stylish in the most nonchalant and couldn't be bothered sort of attitude, yet they always manage to pull off looking pulled together *_^

This fragrance belongs to the floral family of Iris. The raw materials are floral water extract of Blue Iris Pallid from Grasse and the extract of White Iris Florentina from the Mediterranean. It evokes a halo of iridescent powder on a cheek flushed by the chill of the morning. It is a contrasting flower-to-flower encounter, as if the perfume knows her wearer so well that a woman (like us) often has contrasting emotions and characters in us, allowing us to transform and move between moods and occasions. We can be as evanescently sweet as the white iris like a girl running across the flower fields in the morning sun, but can also morph into a more sophisticated intensity of the blue Iris Pallida, unleashing the passion that is all women in us, when the time calls for.

For us, it is that sort of a fragrance, refreshingly sophisticated and interestingly beautiful, in many ways. We believe, we are in love with France already and can't wait for the day that we can visit the country and roam the streets and lanes of the country side and grasse land where these beautiful notes and flowers are from and indulge in the splendor of it all. Thanks L'OCCITANE Malaysia for the love. We shall cherish this lovely one *_^

Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc Eau De Toilette (75ml) is retailed at MYR252 and the 30ml at MYR155. Available now at L'OCCITANE boutiques across Malaysia. This fragrance is ONE of the many perfumes in the La Collection de Grasse, you can explore more of the other items here. More about L'OCCITANE here.

Hope you lovelies are having a great start to the week! Stay refreshingly luminous and happy always *_^

  1. First of all, your photography is just stunning. I mean how on earth did you managed to make a bottle of perfume look so exquisite? I have not bought anything from Loccitane for ages, somehow I always feel that they are a little overpriced. I do like the sounds of the scent though, you describe it perfectly to the point I can almost smell it myself.

    2. Oh you are too sweet and kind, Shireen! I try my best to give my best. Still so much more to learn in photography. I barely scratch the surface and really have not had the time to actually delve into it yet. I got to take it more serious if I need my runway and backstage shots turn out better! Still so far away but I am humbled.

I love the fragrance. I guess that's what they do, they bring us to a place or emotion that we feel connected to. I am glad that you could "smell" it through my post, dearie

  2. This scent sounds as lovely as the bottle looks. I've never tried any of L'Occitane's fragrance range but I have used a number of their products and they always smell really nice. I think the company really seems to put a good deal of care into how their entire line smells. I'm quite in love with their lavender hand cream as well.

Funny about the Song Hye Kyo editorial :) Admittedly it's not my favorite with her but the styling was so striking that I decided to share it. I want to watch The Crossing so it was cool to get your take on it. I remember reading that she was very dedicated to learning and memorizing her lines in Mandarin but I do believe that she still may have been dubbed because I saw a clip and it definitely didn't sound like her voice. It's interesting that you don't think Shin Min Ah is all that stunning in her dramas as I feel exactly the opposite. I find her refreshing since they don't have to pile on a ton of makeup for her to look good unlike most actresses and she has such a charming energy as well.

Hope your week is off to an amazing start Jeann!

    1. Oh yes, Rowena. I have tried one or two of their products as well, long time back and I do have to agree with you, they smell lovely. I tried the almond range, body lotion or something as I think I won a package for lucky draw or some contest. Can't remember *_^

Yes, I believe with their sister brand, Melvita, L'Ooccitane is moving more towards organic, which is great!

You do, my friend, you too, enjoy your week!

  3. Oh they do make some great products I use to shop in their store in Grand Central when I had time to kill before my train departed when I was traveling upstate. And your photos are lovely.
