Dior Cruise 2017 Collection was unveiled at the breathtaking Blenheim Palace recently and this event marked an special occasion for the Maison Dior, a revisit to this historical and exceptional place where two previously held fashion shows were showcased, in 1954 and 1958. Blenheim Palace is the home of the 12th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. This masterpiece of 18th Century Baroque architecture boasts over 300 years of history and is a World Heritage Site, surrounded by more than 200 acres of 'Capability Brown' landscaped Parkland and Formal Gardens.
Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Make Up, created an ultra-modern makeup look as a counterpoint to a show based on memories and emotions. According to Peter Philips the looks were magnetic and adventurous, incorporating the use of strong chocolate colour, focusing on the eyes, while keeping the lips soft, with a little glowing peach sheen. The eye makeup looks caught our attention, so here we are, to share with you some of the backstage actions and how the looks were created for the Dior Cruise 2017 Collection. On The Eyes
Peter Philips explained, "I used the deep bronze shade form the 5 Couleurs Palette Parisian Sky, which I applied as a colour-block in a single sweep over the entire eyelid, from the lash root to the eyebrows. This extreme look was chosen to contrast with the Baroque beauty of the decor."
On The Face
Complexion were very luminous, sculpted with subtle touches to structure faces as described by Peter Philips "After evening out the complexion with Diorskin Forever Fluid Foundation, I created shade by gently contouring with the DiorBlush Light & Contour jumbo stick. Applied to the hollows of the cheeks as well as the parts of the face that catch the light, its two shades enabled us to emphasise the architecture of the face in a nuanced and transparent way. As a finishing touch, I applied just a hint of iridescent Diorskin Nude Air Luminiser. This makeup, blended gradually in a "pointillist" style, provided a natural and luminous result."
On The Lips and Nails
Lips were natural, emphasised very slightly with light peach shade of Dior Addict Gloss in Gorgeous and nails were naturally elegant with Dior Vernis in Muguet.
We especially love as well here, from the collection, the gorgeous chunky accessories, like the necklaces worn by the models here. Styled by Guido Palau, hair was pulled back and slicked down with gel (which we thought was super cool), while the lengths were natural and hung freely down the models' back.

Spectacular! What a clever idea for Dior to have held their new Cruise collection at Blenheim Palace - it truly is an incredible place, both with regard to interior design/architecture and the expansive grounds! I visited a couple of years ago and was totally blown away by its beauty :) I really love how natural the makeup is on this occasion; it allows the models' natural beauty to shine through, while allowing attention to fall on the clothing! DeleteI can imagine shooting a period film there myself! So luxuriously elegant and glorious!
Take away the dramatic eyeshadow and the makeup is actually quite fresh and wearable. I really like the way the blush has been applied to really accentuate the models' cheekbones and facial structure. The complete looks really do complement this collection very nicely.
