[Review] La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion | A Fluid Expression of An Icon

Sometime last year, luxury skincare and beauty brand, La Mer introduced to the world its first The Moisturizing Soft Lotion, and we had a chance to take a first look during an intimate press preview at the St. Regis Hotel here. We believe a brand with such huge followings, raving fans and skincare lovers, there must be something that La Mer have been doing right all along. So it got us really intrigued to find out all about this latest addition to its family of moisturizers which consists of the iconic Crème De La Mer, The Moisturizing Soft Cream, The Moisturizing Gel Cream and The Oil Absorbing Lotion. (here to explore). We shall share with you a little of our experience using this new invention from La Mer today.

Inspired by the powerful micro-technology, the next big thing, according to this deep-sea derived and based skincare and beauty brand is in fact really small. Yes, in developing this soft lotion, La Mer took a step into the future by reinventing The Moisturizing Soft Cream's proprietary Moisture Spheres. First, the Moisture Spheres are made so small that they flow like water. Then with a highly specialised Capsule Technology, each Moisture Sphere or soft lotion centre is encased in a fresh and deeply hydrating gel. According to La Mer, it is super-weightless yet ultra rich, and penetrates healing moisture deeply. It basically starts working at first touch, where millions of the micro-sized spheres flow like droplets of water to flood the skin with healing hydration to help plump the skin from within. Used daily, it reduces visible irritation and redness, and strengthens skin barrier to smooth and soften lines and wrinkles.

Of course, any La Mer product would not be called La Mer without their legendary Miracle Broth™ infused within the soft lotion, this is no exception. The nutrient-rich sea kelp and pure ingredients including Vitamin C, E and B12 and oils of citrus, eucalyptus and alfalfa help soothes irritation and calm the look of redness. Lime Tea Concentrate also helps protect against the damaging effects of pollution and other environmental aggressors known to irritate the skin.

The product comes in a beautifully hefty looking ceramic white bottle, which even the cap itself is pretty heavy. It is sturdy and looks absolutely luxurious, all white. With one pump, it dispenses enough amount of product to smooth over the entire face and neck as little goes a long way. White in colour, the fluid of this soft lotion is really light, if one were to compare it with its predecessors like the Crème De La Mer (which could be too rich for some, especially if one has combination and oily skin), the Moisture Cream and The Moisturizing Soft Cream, as this is a lotion-based moisturizer. The Moisture Cream sits on the skin surface for a while and takes some time to absorb into the skin, where else The Moisturizing Soft Cream almost gets absorbed faster.

Of course, among them, this Moisturizing Soft Lotion is the most fluid and lightweight and its moisture level seems to be more superior than the rest of its family members. It keeps our skin soft and supple for a substantial period of time at night and feels totally luxurious, even for our combination skin. Rich yet but not sticky or feels heavy. It almost feels like skin is soaking up the goodness of its ingredients while being hydrated at the same time. Having said that, we could imagine if you were in a more colder climate (or during winter season) and has dry skin, this one may not be rich enough for you to rip its optimal benefits. As for us, it works just right.

We do not experience redness or irritation of the skin in any kind to begin with, so we could not really attest to its efficacy in reducing such concerns for our skin, the same goes to wrinkles. What is certain for us is that our skin has been loving this lotion since we started using it last year when we first received it, courtesy of La Mer Malaysia.

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion comes with a price tag as well, granted so much technology and research work has been poured into this one - MYR1,000 for 60ml. That would be an investment perhaps one needs to save up for *_^

Thanks again team La Mer Malaysia for having us and for giving us the opportunity to try out such a gorgeous skincare product. More about La Mer's moisturizers here and about the brand here. 1. Beautiful, beautiful pictures! I'm loving this one from La Mer. I find it a great replacement for Moisturizing Lotion which is thicker in texture compare to this one. I love them together with The Revitalizing Serum and my skin shines with happiness! =D Yea, it's on the pricey side but it's definitely worth the investment.
