Review | Shu Uemura Ultime8∞ Cleansing Oil & Sublime Beauty Eye & Lip Contour Cream | The Ultimate Botanical Oil Experience

No one has taken oil cleansing with such dedication and infinite innovative approach as seriously as this Japanese brand, Shu Uemura. As the brand celebrates its cleansing oil's 50th anniversary this year (Shu Uemura's very first cleansing oil created by Mr. Shu Uemura himself in 1967, based on his extensive knowledge working as a foremost Hollywood makeup artist in the 1950s), two lovely selection of products from the Ultime8∞ (Infinite) skincare range were delivered to us to experience its ultimate luxurious cleansing power with its blend of 8 botanical origin oils supposedly giving us a supreme sensorial cleansing experience - ultimate efficacy, ultimate texture, ultimate experience. The secret to Shu Uemura cleansing oil is protecting the skin's delicate balance while removing makeup and impurities in a single step. How did the two products fair? Let's have a look, shall we?

Ultime8∞ (Infinite) Cleansing Oil (150ml at MYR170)
At Shu Uemura, the brand believes that beautiful makeup begins with beautiful skin, and cleansing is an essential step in this process and we could not agree more with this notion. This year, the brand introduces the rebirth of Ultime8∞ Cleansing Oil, which is considered the most luxurious range of the brand's cleansing oils. After use, it is said to leave skin feeling soft, refined with less visible lines. The 8 botanical origin oils found in this facial cleansing oil is now enriched with Japanese Cameillia, Korean Ginseng and Golden Bamboo to better condition, nourish and protect the skin (apart from oils like jojoba, olive, ginger root, shea butter and corn).

It is also empowered with the latest technology to better remove stubborn waterproof mascara and long-lasting makeup, and at the same time thoroughly cleanse the skin giving it a soft and smooth cashmere like finish (the cleansing oil can be used not only to remove makeup but also as a cleanser, so there is no need to double cleanse). There is also another advance feature of this cleansing oil - it is gentle enough to be used on last extensions as it will not melt the glue.

Comes in a pump bottle with a twisted mechanism, it locks well with a click, the bottle looks sleek and seems to refract light, designed to seemingly reflect the flow of oil, the facial cleansing oil has an aromatic smell to it, light and refreshing. Clear in texture, the botanical oil is luxuriously rich on the skin upon application. Like any cleansing oil, it needs to be applied on dry skin, making circulation motions to massage the oil thoroughly through makeup, so as to break it down. Add a little water to emulsify it into a little white milky texture, more massages and repeating actions of adding a little water a few rounds, our skin is cleansed in that way, after rinsing off with water. It has that floral scent in the beginning, from iris to warm musk eventually, making our whole cleansing experience a truly tactile one, it is one to be enjoyed, honestly.

We love the fact that it does not leave our skin feeling oily, but gentle enough to leave the skin feeling soft, moist and hydrated. It does not dry out our face and it feels thoroughly clean, that is what most important. Definitely earns its spot in the luxurious range of the series of cleansing oils of Shu Uemura (here on the full range)! More on this cleansing oil here.

Ultime8∞ (Infinite) Sublime Beauty Eye & Lip Contour Cream (15ml at MY340)
Aligned with the range's philosophy of keeping to the 8 promises, one of which being hybrid texture (cocooning yet light; moisturising yet fresh, each Ultime8 formula is committed to achieve an innovative hybrid texture for an unravelled oil sensation. Comes in a cool little glass bottle, this eye & lip cream does have a really soft creamy texture, yet it feels light on the skin. Whitish in colour, it smells as lovely as the cleansing oil, and does not weigh down the eyes or lips area upon application. It glides on effortlessly on the eye lids and its surrounding area, hydrating and moisturising indeed. It makes our lips feeling really soft and supple all day long too. We don't have much fine lines around these areas, hence we cannot really attest to its efficacy in reducing fine lines so far *_^ It is said that this eye & lip cream is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin. More on the product here.

Since we are on the subject of eye cream, we did find some extensive research done and this article here in particular is really informative and useful about eye creams. Perhaps this may tickle your fancy, lovelies.

We truly enjoy these two products, and in fact, we are onto a brand new cleansing oil from Shu Uemura already now, so stay tuned for that and come back here to read about this new hybrid of cleansing oil. A huge thanks to Shu Uemura Malaysia for the love, #thankyoushu! We shall look forward to our exploration with the brand in the coming future and share them with you here. Have a luminously gorgeous and happy new week ahead, lovelies. Stay happy always *_^

With love,
Jeann

  1. I have never tried Shu Uemura cleansing oil because it's so mahal. I do love cleansing oil and balms though, they are the only ones that I use for my morning and first evening cleanse.

    1. Haha I guess we all have our preference, but I believe it’s made up of precious oils, hence the price point *_^
